I have finally got to trail running. I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve discovered that it is not about where I run; I enjoy running regardless. By and large the trail community (whatever that is), has been affirming and welcoming. Every now and then, though, someone will saying something disparaging about road running. About road runners.
And, some road running people have also felt slighted when I tell them I have been running on road and trail. I am baffled by how personal it is for some people in both worlds.
Why can’t I be on a track, on the road and in the trails. Everywhere. I am comfortable not having to justify myself to anyone for where I run.
We / you / I do not have to choose road or trail. Running is freedom. Movement is a reminder of life. I do not care about where you run. I care that I / we / you move.
